چکیده

In this paper, we consider new and general models for imperfect sources of randomness, and show how to obtain quasi-random sequences from such sources. Intuitively, quasi-random sequences are sequences of almost unbiased elements over a finite set. Our model is as follows: Let A be a finite set whose number of elements is a power of 2. Let 1/|A| ≤ δ < 1 be a constant. The source outputs an element on A with probability at most δ, depending on outputs made by itself so far. From the definition, our sources output at least two elements with nonzero probability. This model is very general, because the source may output only two elements of A with nonzero probability, and the other elements with probability 0. This ability becomes a big difficulty for generating quasi-random sequences. All the methods for the existing models such as PRB-models and δ-sources fail to generate quasi-random sequences from our models. We here give a new algorithms which generates almost unbiased elements over A from such models. key words: unbiased random number, semi-random source, probabilistic algorithm, quasi-random generator

Random and Deterministic Digit Permutations of the Halton Sequence*

The Halton sequence is one of the classical low-discrepancy sequences. It is effectively used in numerical integration when the dimension is small, however, for larger dimensions, the uniformity of the sequence quickly degrades. As a remedy, generalized (scrambled) Halton sequences have been introduced by several researchers since the 1970s. In a generalized Halton sequence, the digits of the o...

Generating Quasi-Random Paths for Stochastic Processes

The need to numerically simulate stochastic processes arises in many elds. Frequently this is done by discretizing the process into small time steps and applying pseudo-random sequences to simulate the randomness. This paper address the question of how to use quasi-Monte Carlo methods to improve this simulation. Special techniques must be applied to avoid the problem of high dimensionality whic...

Convergence and Stability of Modified Random SP-Iteration for A Generalized Asymptotically Quasi-Nonexpansive Mappings

The purpose of this paper is to study the convergence and the almost sure T-stability of the modied SP-type random iterative algorithm in a separable Banach spaces. The Bochner in-tegrability of andom xed points of this kind of random operators, the convergence and the almost sure T-stability for this kind of generalized asymptotically quasi-nonexpansive random mappings are obtained. Our result...

Optimal Stopping Policy for Multivariate Sequences a Generalized Best Choice Problem

In the classical versions of “Best Choice Problem”, the sequence of offers is a random sample from a single known distribution. We present an extension of this problem in which the sequential offers are random variables but from multiple independent distributions. Each distribution function represents a class of investment or offers. Offers appear without any specified order. The objective is...

Quasi Random Deployment Strategy for Reliable Communication Backbones in Wireless Sensor Networks

Topology construction and topology maintenance are significant sub-problems of topology control. Spanning tree based algorithms for topology control are basically transmission range based type construction algorithms. The construction of an effective backbone, however, is indirectly related to the placement of nodes. Also, the dependence of network reliability on the communication path undertak...
